How Much Room Does Home Fitness Exercise Equipment Take Up in the Home?

There are a lot of excuses that people give for not exercising. One of the silliest ones is that they don't have the necessary space in their home for a fitness exercise equipment and they can't afford the fees that a commercial gym charges (okay, those fees aren't silly, they can be quite high).

In terms of the space issue, however, there are no excuses. You don't need much in the way of equipment to get the exercise that you need. Forget what you see on TV, all you need for a proper workout is a machine that can give you some cardio and some free weights. The truth is that you can get treadmills, elliptical machines, and rowing machines that fold up and can slide under your bed or sit in the corner of a room. Weight bars and weight plates take up no space at all and can be stored in your closet, so that excuse is moot.

There is something important that you need address before you commit to purchasing home fitness exercise equipment and that is whether or not you are going to use what you purchase. There is no reason to spend money on something that is going to sit and collect dust. To get a proper workout, you need to exercise three to five times a week! If you can't commit to this, don't spend money unnecessarily; you would be better off joining a gym that allows a month to month membership rather than an annual membership so that when you quit you haven't spent any more money than necessary. If you aren't sure of your commitment level, start by purchasing free weights, as they are the least expensive items, once you are sure you are committed, you can purchase more equipment.

What gyms don't want you to know is that you can get a whole body workout from a set of free weights with changeable plates. When you shop for workout equipment, you will find that you can choose between dumbbells or weight plates and bars. Dumbbell sets look fancy with their stands and series of different weights, but you need to understand that this is the more expensive option. Weight plates are less expensive and actually have more options because you can increase the weight by adding plates to your weight bar. In addition, if you have a space issue in your home, then a dumbbell set it going to take up more room, so keep that in mind when deciding.

If your space is really tight and can't accommodate an open treadmill or other cardio machine, don't worry. There are a lot of new exercises done with weights that combine cardio into your weight routine. In addition, you can get cardio exercise without purchasing home gym fitness equipment. Climb your stairs, take a jog around your neighborhood, go bike riding, hike (if you live in a good area for that) or even jogging in place will help you get a cardiovascular workout.

Lastly, try to enjoy yourself, add variety to your routine and keep a positive attitude. These are all keys to maintain your workout and getting into shape and staying that way.
